JOIN MERCHANT NAVY AFTER DIPLOMA

Diploma holders have great opportunities of joining the merchant navy and grow their career. If you have done diploma in engineering, then it is very convenient for you to enter in the field of the merchant navy. DME (Diploma in Marine Engineering) opens the option for two years of pre-sea training to make you fit for the job of the merchant navy. After completing DME (2 years of pre-sea training), the student can join the ship as a trainee engineer. 

The two-year pre-sea training course leads the Class 4 marine engineer to get a certificate of competency given by the ministry of shipping (Govt. of India). This certificate helps the cadets to acquire the position of marine engineers on board merchant navy ships (anywhere in the world). 

Eligibility
  • Diploma in engineering with minimum marks of 50% and the same percentage in the English language at 10th and 12th standard
  • Candidate should be mentally and physically fit
  • Good communication
  • Eyesight should be perfect
  • Maximum age is 28 years
Job and Scope
After obtaining a Class 4 Certificate of Competency, one can become a marine engineer and can gain an initial salary in the range of Rs. 40k-60k per month. Gradually you can grow in the technical department on various ranks and positions by clearing the further courses and associated examinations. If one gets retired or wants to leave the job, then he/she can go for the role of an instructor, lecturer or master of training in institutes and academies
