BASIC MARINE TRAINING

Basic Marine Training: Getting Ready
In case you’re getting ready to report at the boot camp as a new marine recruit, then this blog will help you to prepare yourself mentally. Most recruits spend sleepless nights, feeling anxious about the mental and physical strain caused by training sessions at the marine boot camp. Nevertheless, you should approach the entire process with a positive attitude as the same will equip you with skills that will come in handy not only in your professional career but also throughout your life.
Following are some useful and practical tips worth keeping in mind before heading off to Parris Island:-
  1. Honing your focusing skills will prepare you effectively for the boot camp
  2. Becoming exhausted mentally is common during training, not to mention the physical exhaustion. You’ll be drained out mentally as you’ll feel overburdened from having to constantly follow orders given by your trainer-the objective is to train the entire unit to function as a close-knit team. You’ll have to realize that they don’t have anything personal against you but they’re being harsh on you simply to transform you into a hardcore marine.
  3. Perform strength training exercises in an integrated manner
  4. Arriving at the boot camp without going through any physical training regimen in advance would be disastrous. You’ll experience burnout in the early stages of the coaching which in turn will have a negative impact on you and make you feel demoralized. Therefore you should follow a physical training program for a few months before you’re ready to leave for Parris Island
Make sure that the workout regimen does not become a crash course-increase the intensity in a slow and steady manner. For example, lift 4kg dumb bells 10 times at a stretch instead of raising 8kg dumb bells six times successively. Once you become conditioned, you can increase the weights as well as number of repetitions slowly in phases.
There’s nothing about the boot camp coaching that you should be scared about. You’d be pleasantly surprised to know most of the new recruits complete the training successfully.
